This research explores the role of imagination in creative processes, intertwining theory, experiences, and the story of Celeste. Structured into six chapters, the thesis follows a path that begins with the symbol of the circle, evolves through the formation of mental images and the relationship between imagination and reality, and ultimately reaches the concept of design as the outcome of a transformative process. Through case studies, interviews, and a meta-project dedicated to Celeste, this work serves as a non-prescriptive guide, aiming to make the mysterious balance between creativity and design more comprehensible.

I decided to begin the research with a symbol — a sign, a drawing, a circle — because, like all symbols, it evokes, recalls, and reactivates meaning. So I chose to draw this circle on different surfaces, placing it in the hands of friends and family, to see how many images this circle could be transformed into.
